Eripare is a new social enterprise with a simple aim:

To provide a modest and much-needed income for Kenyan Maasai mothers, with profits being distributed equally every quarter among the women.

This empowers them as businesswomen with a stake in their own enterprise.

This enterprise is associated with mothers of children who attend our UK funded Primary school in a Maasai village in Kenya

In this region, poverty is widespread and adult illiteracy is common. The harshness of life is exacerbated by a prolonged, severe drought and subsequent flooding.  Life for a Maasai woman is extremely challenging, with minimal basic rights. Her influence over her marriage or the number of children she will have is limited. If widowed, she cannot own land and will often become the charge of a male relative by law. Most of these ladies live in mud or tin huts with no electricity or sanitation.

This new exciting enterprise will give these women hope and a chance to better their and their families lives.

The Maasai ladies make beautiful beadwork - or ERIPARE in Maa. Usually sold to tourists but where these ladies live there are no wild animals so no tourists By hand-making beadwork for you to enjoy, the mothers of our school children will earn a small but fair income. Profits will be distributed equally every quarter among the women, making them businesswomen with a stake in their own enterprise. They will be sharing their knowledge with each other on how to make beautiful Eripare learning new techniques.

In the future, we aim for the ladies to move beyond reliance on online sales and craft fairs, securing consistent work from Kenyan businesses. If you are able to assist in this endeavour, please contact me.

Postage UK only or pick up from South Norfolk or Southern Kenya

The mothers and grandmothers say ASHE OLENG (thank you) so much for helping them and they hope you enjoy wearing their beadwork.

Please support them.
