About the Maasai people

The Maasai people in southern Kenya are very poor, and there is no work available locally. They rely on their animals for food and income. However, there has been another long drought which has decimated all their animal stocks and has resulted in severe poverty. Most people live in tin or mud huts and have no running water or electricity. Many struggle to pay for food.

About Me - Tracey Moore

I sell Eripare here in the UK mostly in East Anglia at craft fairs, fetes etc and all the profits I make are divided equally amongst the ladies once a quarter. See where I will be this year below.

It's just me here in the UK so if anyone in the UK would like to volunteer and sell at local craft fairs then please get in touch with Tracey via email eripare@yahoo.com to discuss further.

Eripare

Maasai women create exquisite beadwork, known in Maa as ERIPARE. While beadwork is often sold to tourists in popular areas, the absence of parks or tourists near their village leaves our mothers without customers. Hence, we've initiated a new enterprise. This initiative empowers these highly disadvantaged women to become entrepreneurs, earning their own income independently of their husbands for the first time—a remarkable milestone for any Maasai woman, given their limited rights in Maasailand.

Beadwork from the Ladies

Mothers are crafting these products for us and receiving a fee for their work. All profits from the sales are distributed equally among the women on a quarterly basis. These items are solely made by the 30 ladies.

Maasai Gifts-

They can source items for us locally but are unable to manufacture them currently due to the high cost of materials. However, all profits from sales will be given to the women, who will then reinvest it in their community.

Necklaces  -

The items are already in the UK, and I have been selling them for our charity for several years. Originally from Kenya, they were donated to our cause. All profits are directed to the women involved. The items can be shipped or picked up locally in South Norfolk.

By selling hand-crafted beadwork on our website, Maasai mothers, who typically do not handle money, earn an income for themselves and their families. Additionally, all profits from beadwork sales are returned to them quarterly, ensuring they have a stake in Eripare.

Please support these women and their community by purchasing and proudly wearing this exquisite hand-crafted beadwork.

ASHE OLENG – THANK YOU.

UPCOMING ERIPARE EVENTS

I take Eripare to local craft fairs, markets and events. I have purchased a gazebo and various display equipment. Banners and flyers as well as business cards. Each venue charges different amounts and luckily you can hire a stronger gazebo from the council for the Markets. This year has been very windy in the UK.
