EDUCATION

Empowering Communities Through Education

In the region where we work, the Maasai and other local tribes face significant challenges in accessing quality education. While primary education is mandatory in Kenya, it is not free, leaving many children—especially girls—without the opportunity to attend school.

Our newly established community learning center will serve as a hub for everyone in the community, offering opportunities to learn essential skills such as reading, writing, and practical business knowledge. These skills will empower individuals to start and grow their own businesses, creating a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Our Mission: Building a School in Rural Kenya to Transform Lives

  • Ensure access to quality education for children who might otherwise miss the opportunity to attend school.
  • Cater to the educational needs of local children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Deliver outstanding Primary and Junior Secondary education, laying a strong foundation for higher education and inspiring students to become skilled professionals who can give back to their community.

SPONSORSHIP

Sponsor a Child in Kenya

Help provide education for children in Kenya—through Primary, Junior Secondary, Secondary, and even University levels. Your sponsorship ensures that children who would otherwise miss out on education have the opportunity to attend school.

How Are Children Selected?
In this Maasai region of Kenya, poverty is widespread, so we make careful, needs-based decisions to prioritize the most vulnerable children. Orphans and children of single mothers are given immediate consideration, as well as children whose parents are unemployed. Without sponsorship, these children would not have access to an education.

Many of our sponsors have generously chosen to continue supporting their sponsored child through Secondary School, making a lasting impact on their future.

What Does Your Sponsorship Cover?
Sponsoring a child costs the charity approximately £25 (or 4,000 KES) per child, per month. This amount helps cover:

  • Salaries for teachers and the school’s operational costs.
  • Books, computers, and essential teaching materials.
  • A nutritious morning tea or porridge and a mid-day school lunch for every child and school staff member.

While families are responsible for additional expenses like uniforms, the charity steps in to assist in cases of extreme hardship. Families are also asked to contribute £2 per month to the school, although this fee is waived in cases of significant financial difficulty.

You can sponsor one child for £25 (or 4,000 KES) per month, or choose to support more than one. Sponsorship is flexible, and you can discontinue your support at any time. Your contribution can transform lives—one child at a time.

Community Sponsorship,

this is a brand new plan and which we would like to explore within our Community Learning Centre. We will ask the local community what they would like to learn, perhaps literacy or language skills need improving, or perhaps it is more practical things, like mechanics, or agriculture practises. All will need extra funding but will really help the community to raise their income levels and to give their families and their community a better life.

How is the money used?

All money is carefully audited and every penny donated will be used for the specific cause or put into the pot for extras like school trips.

Some sponsors are eligible for gift aid and any surplus received from this is used for providing uniform for the poorest children and improving the school to provide a better education for all.

Tracey Moore - Sponsorship Manager and Trustee and founder of ERIPARE eripare@yahoo.com

We allocate 1 or more children to each supporter. The children make regular contact by writing or drawing pictures. In Kenya, all school teaching is in English so the letters are in English from about age 8 and they give an interesting insight into the Maasai culture and lifestyle. The younger children keep in contact through drawing and school work.

The school has email, so the older children may use this for contact. We take photos or videos each time we visit or the school does this (every 6 months or so), meet the headteacher and inform sponsors on attendance and progress.

New sponsors required

Each January, 25 new children start at the school.  These children would not attend school without sponsorship. If you would like to becoming a sponsor, please contact Tracey Moore  email eripare@yahoo.com who will provide further details.

Sponsoring a Kenyan child really does make a difference to their lives.
